Rocket Launching Technology Challenge 2011 (PTPR2011)

The Rocket Launching Technology Challenge (PTPR) is an annual educational program organized by the National Space Agency (ANGKASA) in collaboration with the Division of Co-curriculum and Arts, the Ministry of Education and the University of Malaya. The competition has entered its 9th year ever since it was first introduced in 2003 as a pilot project. It is an advanced science educational program ahead of conventional secondary school curriculum in the country.

In this competition, students are required to create a perfect model of water rocket with 1.5 liter bottle of carbonated drinks in a very creative and innovative style in hopes that it will give minimum frictional forces. Subsequently, the water rocket model is launched into the sky to accomplish several missions by means of water rocket launcher tool with combination of air and water pressure. Indeed there are many scientific concepts and applications that need to be understood and adapted by the students before producing the water rocket.

PTPR2011 is back this year with high hopes and enthusiasm that it will create an onset of interest as well as creative and innovative mindset among young people in exploring the field of space science in line with the efforts of ANGKASA.
